The fandom is no stranger to the endless onslaught of Cease and Desist letters, threats of legal action, and especially copyright claims. However it's been long assumed that pony-music-remixes, like most musical re-arrangements, were largely safe from such claims, as they fall into the realm of fair use. This doesn't seem to be the case, as numerous MLP remixes have begun receiving content claims from Sony Music, who are blocking the tracks on Youtube.
DJ Midli, was among those affected by this wave of content claims by SME (Sony Music Entertainment).
"I hope it's just an oversight on Hasbro's part and as soon as they realize what Sony is doing they tell them to "Chill bruh." Midli said. "Hasbro and Ingram themselves have been pretty great, letting the remixes/mixes stay up but monetizing it. We get to share our creative works of love for the series, and they get a bit of cash. With Sony coming in guns blazing, it severely damages the creative aspect this fandom is known and loved for."

The claims appear to be far-reaching, and affecting even non-monetized tracks. Artists speculate that this could spell the end for youtube-based MLP remixes in the future. It is unclear how far-reaching the claims are, or if they will continue.
