The beacons are lit! Tumblr calls for aide!
It's been quiet around here...too quiet... and sure enough, that means trouble.
Yesterday, HN was alerted to the antics of a reported scam artist called Skyline19, who according to this post has been "scamming customers and stealing money" and "running a doubtful story about being blind and homeless and getting shitloads of cash", for at least 3 years from bronies and other art patrons online. The NEW part of the news, is that he is now trying to get money donated to him...so he can attend Bronycon this year...
Something's not right here...
Now, what's remarkable about this particular tip, is just how extensively sourced it is, and how long it's been going on.
From what we've gathered by looking through the fucking entire blog of compiled evidence is that as of this week, the DA user named Skyline19, who has been soliciting money - literally hundreds upon hundreds of dollars - under the pretenses of hunger, homelessness, and a list of other reasons, is now attempting to get donations so that he can attend Bronycon this year.
The first red flag here is..."priorities", right? Well it's a bit more than that.
This has received a very vocal backlash from the pony community, as many have attested to Skyline19's habits of accepting payments for commissions and never delivering them, on top of the soliciting of donations for his care.
Another screencap dated from 2014 indicates that at one point he had received nearly $2000 in assistance from his DeviantArt followers via paypal.
His followers, or ex-followers rather, have no sympathy for his lack of ability to attend a fan-gathering of pony enthusiasts.
In another recent incident, it's suggested that he took the money that was donated to him to help him "pay for food" (after countless posts about hunger pains and needing $20 to receive life-giving sustenance) and used it to purchase a DeviantArt Core Membership instead.
Given the number of complaints from nearly 3 years of activity, it is safe to say that Skyline19 is by no means a trustworthy individual, and we would caution all prospective patrons against commissioning his art.
